INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (IIT) DELHI

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (IIT) DELHI is one of the 23 IITs established as premier Centres of Excellence dedicated to education, research, and innovation in science, engineering, and technology across India.
Originally founded in 1961 as the College of Engineering, the institute was later recognized as an Institution of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963, and subsequently renamed Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. It was also granted Deemed University status, giving it the authority to design its academic framework, conduct examinations, and confer degrees independently.
Since its establishment, IIT Delhi has produced more than 60,000 graduates across diverse fields such as engineering, physical sciences, management, and humanities & social sciences. Among them, nearly 5,070 have earned Ph.D. degrees, while over 15,738 completed their B.Tech. programs. Others have obtained master’s degrees in engineering, science, and business administration. Today, IIT Delhi alumni serve as scientists, technologists, entrepreneurs, and business leaders worldwide. Many have also ventured beyond their original disciplines into civil services, politics, and social development through NGOs, making meaningful contributions to national progress and global industrial growth.
